Peony Flower

I had a good day today, as the shop was kinda busy again.  This peony is my favorite of the day.

Banger Tattoo

I do a lot of banger tattoos.  Normally they are walk-ins and want just a fast, small, and simple tattoo.  I hardly ever post pics of the bangers, they are never impressive in that they are not complicated.  I like this tattoo and I drew it on with a sharpie.

Polynesian Tribal

I had just finished this drawing, and I intended to use it for my door design.  I will probably still use this as a graphic on my studio door.  It is just such a nice design I want People to see it.  This was really fun tattoo and a really cool client.

Polynesian Turtle

This has to be one of my favorite Polynesian tribal turtles I have ever done.  I want to start doing more tribal turtles with this compositional direction.

This is my favorite tribal turtle tattoo.

Hawaii #3 “Dissonant contrasting organic forms”

Hawaii #3 “Dissonant contrasting organic forms”
New painting finished finally. This was just fun to go all out with what is strange.  I am working on the reading for my formal composition, and I can see it not happening until 2020.  Hopefully I will be set up and able to have the time and space to devote to the work when the time comes.  For now I am happy with the study work going I am doing on linen.  It is all improvisational and playful in its intent, however it is not a work that I complete in a single sitting.  These studies take some time.

I like how this turned out.

Polynesian Manta Ray

I got the chance to study the Manta Ray again.  Kinda nice to be able to further this tutor of composition.  I am pretty happy with it.

Polynesian Tribal Forearm

The client is about to join the army and move off island.  We are going to complete his entire forearm with Polynesian tribal.  I have two more sessions with him before he leaves for the army.

I am looking forward to completing this work.

Polynesian Tribal Islands

This was the most fun I have had in a few weeks.  The client was a really happy guy who just loves Maui and loves the ocean.

Fishhook

A nice walk-in Polynesian fishhook tattoo.  It has been really slow lately, maybe that is because of the insanely fucking negative energy that’s been vomiting all over the studio over the last few months.  I’m gonna move on soon if this shit doesn’t change.  I am a happy guy, and I love this place deeply.  I cannot in any way handle the consistent negative energy of unhappy people.  I have tried my very best to improve my friend's life, to help him get through whatever it is that he’s going through.  It’s not working, and I am about to call it and simply make it all about me.

Enough about that rant, here is my favorite tattoo of the day.

Polynesian Tribal

This client came back for a second session to add some forms onto his fishhook he got last year.  He is going to be back in a few months to complete the bottom of his leg with me.

Adding on to Polynesian Tribal

Al came back again.  He and his wife get a tattoo from me every year now.  I added to his work, filling in some spots that were empty.  He will need a full day of work for what is there now to be completed in my eyes, but we only had a day to work together.  It looks great, and he is cool to work with.

Mahalo, see you next year.

Tiki Flash

I made this Tiki guy from my flash with an ax from this guys favorite game, "Diablo."
I like my flash, and it is pretty popular these days.

Hawaii #2 "To Slide"

I have completed my second study here on Maui; it is simple.  I was working with the octopus and its name “he’e” meaning too slide as it slides along the ocean currents.  This is still all preparation for my large composition.  It is nice to get my hands back to where I want them to be.

I am still not ready in anyway whatsoever to go on to my formal composition.  I need a year of study and character development first.  It’s definitely fun so far.

Vouge

I have a history of theatrically posing with my paintings.

Athena and Trev are going to use these pictures for the Atomic Tattoo Hallway.

Octopus

A year ago I made the shark on this guy, and he wanted the octopus this year.  Nice to see so many return clients.  It feels like the entire month was all returns.

Iban Tribal

It is always a treat to work on some old school Iban tribal.  The Iban are a people with a complicated history to their tattoos.  I go into great length of their legends and myths in my upcoming book (shameful plug) which you should buy digitally in 2020 when I release it.
Any way, this was a really fun tattoo to do.
