Fishhook Beach Scenes

Today I tattooed an entire family with traditional beach tattoos.  It was really fun and we worked late into the day.  Here are six of them...

Then I got a late night walk-in for another beach scene!  Today was really fantastic.

Firefighters Carabiner

Last October we had a brush fire right behind our neighborhood.  The fire was directly across the street and with the high winds some of the sparks flew into our neighborhood and started small fires all over.  The area was evacuated for a day and we felt like we barely got out in time.  I ran home from work, ran into a friend and his girl on the road who raced me back the rest of the way so we could get the dogs out just before they closed off the neighborhood.  There was so much smoke that I couldn’t see through the house it was so thick.  The fire department really saved the neighborhood, so Athena and I dropped off some stuff to the fire department as a mahalo for saving the neighborhood.  The client is a fireman and he wanted this tattoo to be one of the lessons he earned on the job.  I tattooed his carabiner with the acronym SSFK slow and steady fast kills. This is the final session on this forearm band.  It was a really cool tattoo to work on, and the clients a cool sci fi geeks at heart.

Hibiscus Flower

Today I tattooed a large hibiscus in my style of American traditional tattoo.  I really like this tattoo, but I think the next time I go this direction I will use more black.

Hibiscus Flash

I got the time today to watercolor a bit.  Christmas is always a slow couple of days in the shop, and I like to take advantage of the slow to paint.  I call it painting season, and I was able to work on my oil painting and this flash page.  I started and finished this today.

Storm Trooper Rose

Star Wars is truly my absolute favorite escapism in the entire galaxy.  I draw a lot of Star Wars stuff just for fun.  To combine two things I love, American Traditional tattoo and Star Wars, well it is a pleasure.  This was really fun to tattoo.

Orchid Add-on

The client is a biker and spends her time riding as much as possible.  I added some orchids to her exhibit skull tattoo, doing my best to keep the look the same.

Little Red Hen

My client owns her own farm in Canada.  She takes great pride in how hard she works and how successful she has become.  The “Little Red Hen” is her mantra!  This tattoo is my favorite of the day and even though I had a busy day, this one stands out to me.

Turtle Beach

I like a bit of American Traditional in my Hawai’i beach Scene tattoo.
Bold, bright, long lasting and solid as hell.

Hawaiian Scene Flash Paintings

I finished a couple of flash paintings.  Most of these I have already tattooed, and the ones left are already spoken for.  These days are a cry different, as I am painting flash, people come into the studio and see what I am working on and ask for the tattoo from the flash painting.

Traditional Beach

This was a fun tattoo.  I love it when the client wants a straight American Traditional tattoo.
Jerry did all the work for us, thanks man.

Traditional Memorial Anchor

For my friend's father.  Tim is a diver, he owns Tiny Bubbles Scuba and has been diving for his entire life.  He wanted a tattoo that was traditional and classic to represent his father.

Beer and Beach

I have really been enjoying my beach scene tattoos lately.  The client is a brewer, and he wanted a beer glass as a portion of the frame.

Sculpting Tool Beach Scene

My client today is a ceramics artist.  We combined her favorite sculpting tool with the beach scene.  I had a really fun day today, doing 13 tattoos.  I worked very late, (I always work late these days) not closing the shop until 10pm.  This was my favorite tattoo of the day.
