Poetry illustrations

My poetry book "Iodized Salt" volumes 1, 2, and 3 have now been fully edited.  I am currently working on the illustrations and formatting the work for publication in printed page and ebook form.  I have quite a bit of the illustrations completed at this point, i just have to keep going, there are lots of picture pages in these books.

Here is a quick look at the inside cover page.  This image is without the borders, as it will take me some time to complete my formatting work on this it wont have borders for a while.  

The poetry is rhythm based work, and I intended it to read like a painting- as a visual experience.  I predict that I will have this all complete by the end of March/April 2012 and then in print by May/June.

Wedding Invitations

Athena and I finished designing our wedding invitations.  After playing with several designs we went with a comic book style, and we both like the way it looks.  The wedding has very quickly taken over my life (as is should so I am told), but I will be back in the studio very soon.

We had the invitations printed at Peek Printing in St. Paul.  The look great, the paper quality is fantastic and they were fast.  Seriously our return was 2 days!

New Prints

I finished a print run this week.  I have just under 20 prints after the pre-sales.  I currently have 17 8x10 reproductions in pigmented inks of BitTorrent 2 "Marinuis Vanderlubbe as Icarus" 

The larger prints show here are already spoken for (sorry).

Studio Visit magazine

It finally came in the mail...

...Studio Visit Magazine is out and I am featured in volume sixteen, on pages 34-35.

It looks nice, and has a good feel in my hands, lets see if this reaps the rewards that I hoped it would.  If anything this will show off my work to other artists.  After thumbing through the issue, I found that my work is completely different than anything out there.  I am not completely surprised, albeit, I had hopped that there were a few artists involved in the magazine that my work could at least relate to.

Oh well, it's not a total loss to stand out.

All in all im happy with the print, now go out and buy this wherever they sell magazines.

New Improvisations

I have completed 5 improvisations for the kickstarter rewards this week.  I should be able to keep up with the work load and complete the rest of the kickstarter rewards by the third or fourth week in december.  I will mail them all out as soon as the wok is dry.

Another oil painting completed and ready to varnish.  This one was a complicated composition that hopefully has a simple appearance.  This work will be on exhibit in NYC in the spring.

Minneapolis #7 "Milk Bubbles"

Slightly behind schedule, I finished another painting in the Minneapolis series.  the minneapolis series of paintings is really just a chance for me to explore color-form ideas and relax.  there is no real artists statement other than i am testing out some of my ideas before I move on to my next major series.

I was not able to resolve the minimal composition of this piece; and for some time it sat in the corner of the studio waiting for me to understand it.

Artwork of the month: Amedeo Modigliani.

I was at the spyhouse coffee shop this morning where they are exhibiting a local artist, J.M. Culver.  She has a few portraits that I really enjoyed.  Culver is a fine artist, as I have watched her compositions for the last 3 years.  Her portrait work is by far my favorite to date.

I was born on November 5th

Its my birthday today, and we will celebrate after work with a good dinner at Senyai-Senlek, a great thai restaurant here in the neighborhood.  Then home for a relaxing night.  

...yes I am old now.

...and yes I have lived exactly the life that I wanted to.  I am an artist, that is all I ever wanted.
